What we do

Water Well Drilling and Pump Work Across the Upstate

Well drilling is the main work: new homes, rural land, farms, commercial properties and wells that have failed. We also install pumps, set pressure tanks, run water lines from the wellhead and drill irrigation wells.

Well Pump Repair

No water at the house, pressure that keeps dropping, or a pump that never shuts off. We check the system in order and repair or replace the part that failed.

Well Pump Installation

Core Well Drilling installs the complete pump system on new and existing wells. That covers the submersible pump, the pitless adapter, the pressure tank and switch, and the hookup at the house.

Pressure Tanks

A well pressure tank holds water under pressure so the pump does not run every time a faucet opens. We install and replace pressure tanks across the Upstate, sized to the pump on your well.

Water Lines

We trench and lay the water line from the wellhead to the house or the barn. Old lines that leak or sit too shallow get replaced the same way.

Irrigation Wells

Irrigation and farm wells for sprinkler systems, livestock, ponds and pools around the Upstate. We size the pump to the well and run the line out to the field.

Drillers Who Know the Rock Under the Upstate

Our drillers bring more than 40 years of drilling experience. They are natives of the Upstate with extensive knowledge of the local geography and landscapes. Under the red clay here sits hard, fractured rock, and the water moves through the cracks in it.

Before we schedule a well we come out for a site survey. That visit helps pick the best spot to drill on your land. You then get a written estimate that quotes a minimum depth.

The state well standards call for casing set into bedrock, and that depth changes from lot to lot. That is why the estimate quotes a minimum and explains how the casing cost can move. We also set the pump and pressure tank and run the water line into the house. One company handles the job from the drill site to the faucet.

Our drillers bring more than 40 years of drilling experience. Two wells a mile apart can hit rock at very different depths. That experience shows in where we put the well.

A Site Survey and a Written Estimate

We look at the property before the job is scheduled, so the well goes where it works best. The written estimate quotes a minimum depth, and estimates are free.

How We Work

How a Well With Core Well Drilling Runs

From the first call to water at the house, here is how it goes.

1

Call and Tell Us About the Property

Call (864) 768-5688 and tell us where the land is and what the water is for. If we are on a job, leave a message and we will get back to you.

2

We Come Out for a Site Survey

We look at the property before the job is scheduled. Setbacks matter here, since the state well standards keep a well 75 feet from a septic tank or drainfield.

3

You Get a Written Estimate

The estimate quotes a minimum depth for your well. Bedrock depth is not something anyone can see from the surface, so the estimate explains how casing cost can change.

4

We Drill and Set the Casing

The rig drills through soil and weathered rock into the bedrock below. Casing is set into that rock and grouted, then the well is developed until the water runs clear.

5

Pump System and Water at the House

We size the pump to the depth and yield of your well. Then we set the drop pipe, the pitless adapter and the pressure tank. The water line runs to the house and the water comes on.

Frequently Asked Questions

Questions About Well Drilling and Well Pumps?

The questions Upstate homeowners, builders and farms ask us most. If yours is not here, call and we will answer it.

Call (864) 768-5688

How much does a new well cost?
It depends on how deep the well has to go and how much casing it takes. The written estimate quotes a minimum depth, then explains how the casing cost can change. Bedrock depth is different on every lot, so no one can price a well from the address alone. Estimates are free, so call (864) 768-5688 and we will come look.
How deep are water wells in the Upstate?
Depth changes from lot to lot. USGS research in the Piedmont found most open rock fractures between 50 and 180 feet down. Two state monitoring wells in Spartanburg County are 225 feet and 442 feet deep. One of our jobs in Inman hit hard rock and found good water at a little over 520 feet.
How long does it take to drill a well?
Many wells are drilled in a day or two. Our Google reviews mention water at the house within two days. The site survey sets the schedule, because depth and access both move the timing. The pump system and the water line can add another day.
Do you install the pump too, or just drill?
A complete pump system is part of the job. That is a submersible pump sized to the well, drop pipe, a pitless adapter, the pressure tank and the wiring. We also do pump installation on wells that were drilled years ago.
What areas do you cover?
We are based in Pacolet, in Spartanburg County, and we work the Upstate about 60 miles around Spartanburg. That takes in Spartanburg, Cherokee, Union, Greenville, York, Chester and Laurens counties. Gaffney, Boiling Springs, Greer, Simpsonville, Laurens, Rock Hill and Chester are all in range. Call and tell us where the property is.
Do you handle the permit and the well record?
South Carolina requires a notice of intent before a residential well is drilled. That paperwork is the driller's job. When the well is finished, the water well record goes to the state with the depth and the casing depth. Septic permitting runs through a separate office.
My well went dry. Can you replace it?
Replacement wells are a regular part of the work. Many older properties have a shallow bored well that dries out first in a drought. A drilled rock well reaches water bearing fractures far below that layer. We look at the old well on the site survey before quoting anything.
Do you work on wells you did not drill?
Most pump calls come in on wells that were drilled years ago by someone else. We handle pump repair when there is no water or the pressure drops. We also replace worn pumps and pressure tanks. Call (864) 768-5688 and describe what the system is doing.
